As you read this, I'm probably cruising down the Rhine, playing a round of golf in Scotland, or belting out Oasis tunes at Murrayfield. In saying that, you're in excellent hands with Lucinda and Chris zooming around the province, keeping things running smoothly.

We're heading into a busy stretch of the golfing year, with Senior Men's Pennants getting underway, representative trials and the Taranaki Masters just around the corner. And let's not forget our rep teams kicking off in September—plus all the club competitions firing up across the region.

Reshaping the Future of Taranaki Golf
We're excited to share a significant step forward in the way Taranaki Golf operates. After much thought and work, we are evolving our structure to better serve the game and our wider golfing community.
While our Board will continue to provide governance, it will now be supported by five key operational areas—each led by a Director with a clear focus and vision. This modern, strategic structure is designed to empower passionate individuals to drive progress, be supported, free from the burden of excessive meetings or administration.

The five areas of focus are:
  • Women's Golf
  • Men's Golf
  • Growth and Development
  • Juniors
  • Rules and Ratings
Each Director will have the opportunity to form a small, skilled working group to support their area. These groups will collaborate as needed—likely just two to three times per year—allowing for focused, impactful work while remaining flexible and efficient.

This new model is designed to increase impact, reduce duplication, and align everyone toward a shared goal: strengthening golf in Taranaki at all levels.

We are now seeking inspired leaders to step into these Director roles and those working in support. If you have a passion for the game and a desire to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you by emailing office@taranakigolf.co.nz

Adult Coaching
I've been fortunate to attend the first two of our adult coaching sessions at Ngamotu and Stratford. These sessions were created to support beginner golfers—or those feeling a bit frustrated—with a return to the fundamental skills and concepts of the game.
Rather than relying on the traditional “show and tell” style of instruction, we're embracing a more modern coaching approach—one where you lead the direction of your learning. It's not a new idea, but it's a proven and powerful way to help you become more aware of what you're doing on the course and with your swing.
And don't worry if you missed these sessions—we'll be running more focused coaching opportunities later in the year.

Taranaki Golf Fund
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has generously donated to the Taranaki Golf Fund.
This is more than just a donation — it's a meaningful gift that stays local, grows over time, and delivers real, measurable impact. Whether it's $5 or more, every contribution helps grow the game, support young talent, and strengthen our golf community across the region.
Giving is easy, rewarding, and truly makes a difference.

Skin clinic TIP
"Here's a Sun Smart tip you don't want to miss — your lips!"
Your lips can cop a hammering from the sun out here — they burn quicker than a missed two-footer... and no one likes lipping out on or off the green!"
"Keep them protected — SPF 30 is the winner every time. Because sunburnt lips are the real bogey out here."
Remember its 20% off your check up!
