What an incredible start to 2025 for Taranaki golfers, with so many impressive results, it was fantastic to see Kingston Taylor-Voyle featured on the front page of the Daily News and on TV, thanks to Carolyn Robinson's article about his appearance at the NZ Open. While other sports often dominate the headlines, it was great to see golf getting its well-deserved spotlight.
There are plenty of pennant events happening right now, so be sure to visit your local clubs and the Taranaki Golf website to support your fellow members and stay up to date with the results.
We're excited to have our children's book, “Bogeys, Birdies, and Bunkers”, published! We hope that the support for this book will help fund part of our Junior Golf program, as all proceeds from sales will go directly towards supporting our future golfers. See the details below for more information on how you can obtain a copy.
I'm excited to assist the course rating team in March as we begin the process of rating four courses for 2025. I didn't realise how much work goes into this process, and believe it or not, it's actually quite fascinating! This season, we'll be rating Pungarehu, Patea, Te Ngutu, and Waitara courses.
We're thrilled to share that the Taranaki Golf Association is now established as a Community Fund at the Taranaki Foundation. It's truly rewarding to know that this fund will support golf for many years to come.
Taranaki Foundation is a charitable foundation created for the people of Taranaki, by the people of Taranaki, to nurture and build the prosperity of our region through community giving, partnerships and philanthropy.
Taranaki Golf is hosting two club forums open to all leaders, managers, superintendents, club professionals, administrators, volunteers, and paid staff. These forums aim to help Taranaki golf clubs seize opportunities in 2025 and beyond. Golf NZ will be present to discuss challenges facing clubs, while Brendon Ratcliffe, the guest facilitator, will lead a session on engaging with Gen Z. Additionally, there will be workshops focused on Taranaki Golf's vision for the future.
