If golf wasn't already cool enough, Rory winning the Masters and completing the career Grand Slam just took it to another level. Augusta's already iconic with its green jackets, Amen Corner, and all the history—and now Rory adds this legendary moment to the mix.

It's the kind of finish that gives you chills. Classic Rory, stepping up when it matters most. This one's going to be replayed for years—and hopefully, it inspires a whole new wave of people to take up the sport we already love.

Inspiration isn't far away locally either, with the Men's Handicap Pennants Final set for May 11th at Stratford Golf Club, where Opunake will take on Manaia. The semi-finals featured Opunake, Pungarehu, Manaia, and Waverley—proof that the smaller clubs can still punch well above their weight. It's great to see that kind of passion and performance coming from our local golf scene.

A big congratulations to our Junior Boys team for bringing the Shand Salver silverware home! Going unbeaten throughout the competition is a massive achievement and a true credit to everyone involved—players, managers, and supporters alike.

Taranaki Golf is proud to welcome Bayleys as an official Partner. As locals, they know the Taranaki region better than anyone, with a proven track record of achieving outstanding results. We're thrilled to have them on board—and who knows, maybe a little of that success will rub off on us too!

A big thank you to all the clubs that attended the 2025 Club Forums. Hopefully, this marks the start of stronger connections between us all and real growth across the region.

One of my key takeaways came from Brendon Ratcliffe's session on Gen Z—so much insight there. It really hit home that we might be trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. The way we communicate, engage, and retain younger players needs a fresh approach—and that's something we all need to work on together.

The Taranaki Golf Fund is now live online! Your donation will directly support the growth of golf across our region—from juniors just picking up a club to seasoned players—ensuring the game thrives for generations to come. You can make an instant donation HERE or get more information.

I've had quite a few queries lately about where your Taranaki Golf levies go—and it's a fair question.

Each player contributes approximately $27 + GST to the Taranaki Golf Association, and $38 + GST to Golf NZ.

The simplified graph provided here gives a breakdown of how the Taranaki portion is spent, and hopefully answers some of your questions.

Salaries cover the delivery of our regional programmes—like Futures, She Loves Golf, club development, school visits, and more.
The Representative Programme includes Interprovincials, Masters, and Junior events.
Admin, vehicles, and rent take care of the behind-the-scenes essentials that keep the whole operation running smoothly.

We're committed to making every dollar count toward growing and supporting golf across the region.

I hope your golf is as good as the company you play it with!
