Happy New Year and welcome to 2025! I hope everyone had the chance to enjoy plenty of golf over the Christmas and New Year break. I'm excited about the year ahead and I hope all those involved with our 18 clubs in the region are as well.

An exciting start to the year with Kingston Taylor - Voyle winning the Maori Nationals and earning a start at the NZ Open, we hosted the Taranaki Strokeplay at New Plymouth last week and there was exceptional scoring with Kanichiro Katano winning the Men's event at -10 and Cherry Lee taking out the Womens title at -9.

We're thrilled to announce a fantastic new addition to Taranaki Golf – a Ford Ranger! A big thank you to the Toi Foundation for funding this vital asset, and to Energy City Ford for partnering with us to ensure Taranaki Golf has the right resources to support our programs and initiatives across the region.

Be sure to check out the Energy City Ford "Deal of the Month," which is available exclusively to Taranaki Golf members.

Over the summer, Taranaki Golf membership grew to 5,130, up from around 4,800 at this time last year. A huge congratulations to all the clubs for creating such a welcoming environment that more people are getting involved in the sport. This includes 579 junior men and 82 junior women, which highlights the need for us to keep working towards making our clubs more appealing to younger players, especially young women. If you have ideas on how we can do this at your club, feel free to reach out to Taranaki Golf staff, Lucinda Searle or Chris Hill.

We've kicked off a new campaign on our social media channels to promote the game to everyone, with a special focus on encouraging young women to get involved. If you haven't already, be sure to follow us on both Instagram and Facebook. Not only does this help us stay connected, but it also showcases the great work we're all doing to grow and support the game of golf.

As we look ahead to a big year, we're still seeking more partners to join us at Taranaki Golf. If your business is interested in supporting a growing sport, why not reach out to me? Golf is on the rise, and it's a fantastic opportunity to get involved! You might be surprised at how affordable it is to get involved!
