February Newsletter

I hope you all managed to get plenty of golf in over the Christmas and New Year break — or perhaps you chose to rest, recover, and recharge.

Looking ahead at the golf programme on our website, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in both club and Taranaki Golf events. I encourage everyone to play different courses where possible and support one another, helping to ensure Taranaki's golf environment continues to be the envy of other regions.

In 2026, we are looking to do things a little differently in our representative space. As a first step, we are seeking expressions of interest from players who would like to be considered for the following teams:
  • Men's Interprovincial
  • Women's Interprovincial
  • Men's and Women's Masters (40 and over)
At this stage, we are simply asking for expressions of interest by sending me your name, team interested in and email  office@taranakigolf.co.nz  This will allow us to get a meeting organised later with interested players to outline the programme, expectations, availability, trials, get feedback and other key details.

Please note: this process does not apply to Junior Representative teams.

The 2026 representative programme is scheduled as follows:
  • Women's Masters: 27–29 March – Bay of Plenty
  • Men's Masters (Stu Smith): 19–20 September – TBC
  • Men's Representative (Shand): 17–18 October – TBC
  • Women's Representative (Sybil Green): 17–18 October – TBC
  • Men's Freyberg Masters: 9–13 November – Hawke's Bay
  • Men's Interprovincial: 1–4 December – Otago
  • Women's Interprovincial: 1–4 December – Manawatū / Whanganui

So, if you have been in these teams before or maybe haven't considered it in the past, then we look forward to working with players who are keen to represent Taranaki with pride in 2026.

The Men's Handicap Pennants tees off on 15 February. Good luck to all 24 teams from 18 clubs — a tremendous field and we look forward to some great golf as clubs battle it out throughout the region.
